Dietes bicolor (Fortnight Lily or African Iris)
Dietes bicolor is a hardy, clump-forming perennial known for its graceful, sword-like foliage and charming flowers. Native to southern Africa, this plant produces soft yellow blooms marked with subtle brown or maroon spots, typically appearing in flushes throughout warmer months. Each flower lasts only a day, but the plant blooms repeatedly, especially after rain. The narrow, evergreen leaves create a fountain-like shape, making it a striking feature in borders, rock gardens, or mass plantings. Drought-tolerant once established and low-maintenance, Dietes bicolor is a reliable choice for adding texture and gentle colour to gardens or landscapes.
