Buxus microphylla japonica, commonly known as Japanese boxwood, is a versatile evergreen shrub valued for its neat, compact form and bright green, oval-shaped leaves. With a naturally rounded habit and a slower growth rate, it’s ideal for low hedges, borders, and sculpted shapes in both formal and casual gardens. More heat-tolerant than many other boxwood varieties, it performs well in warmer climates while still holding its shape and color throughout the year. Easy to prune and maintain, Japanese boxwood brings structure, symmetry, and timeless appeal to a wide range of landscape styles.
