Callistemon: The Iconic Bottlebrush Shrub

The common name, “Bottlebrush,” perfectly describes this plant’s bright red, brush-like flower spikes. These vibrant, cylindrical blooms are an absolute magnet for native birds and insects, bringing a dynamic splash of life and colour to your garden. The flowers are followed by small, woody capsules that resemble beaded bracelets on the branches, lasting for years and adding unique texture.

This is a hardier variety than most other Bottlebrushes, making it a reliable choice for a range of climates. It is a fantastic, versatile evergreen that can be grown in several ways to suit your landscape design.

Why the Bottlebrush is a Garden Favorite

• Versatile Form: Can be grown as a natural, large shrub, trained into a beautiful small tree, or espaliered to create a quick wall cover.
• Effective Screening: Its dense foliage makes it an excellent choice for a tall, unclipped hedge or a natural privacy screen.
• Pollinator-Friendly: The nectar-rich flowers are a vital food source for bees, birds, and other wildlife.
• Unique Seed Pods: The woody capsules add long-lasting interest to the plant’s structure.
