Metrosideros ‘Moon Maiden’ (Cream Pōhutukawa Hybrid)

Looking for the legendary hardiness of a Pōhutukawa but want a unique colour palette? Metrosideros ‘Moon Maiden’ is a stunning evergreen hybrid that trades the traditional fiery reds for sophisticated, creamy-yellow blooms. It’s a versatile performer that adds soft, luminous colour to your summer garden.

Key Features

• Unique Summer Blooms: Produces a profusion of soft cream-to-pale-yellow flowers from early to mid-summer, providing a beautiful contrast to red-flowering varieties.

• Tidy, Compact Growth: Naturally maintains a dense, rounded shape, making it an excellent choice for modern landscapes where space is a consideration.

• Coastal Hardy: Like its Pōhutukawa parentage, ‘Moon Maiden’ is highly tolerant of salt spray and coastal winds, making it a top pick for seaside properties.

• Bird Magnet: The nectar-rich blossoms are a favourite for native birds like Tui and Bellbirds.

Growth & Care

‘Moon Maiden’ is as practical as it is pretty. While it can reach 4 meters as a standalone tree, its compact nature makes it exceptionally easy to maintain as a formal hedge. Prune lightly after summer flowering to encourage even denser foliage and more blooms the following season. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil, but is remarkably forgiving once established.
