Graceful Deciduous Form: Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Ruby Lace’ develops into an attractive deciduous tree with an open, spreading habit and elegant branching. Its naturally refined structure makes it a versatile choice for feature planting, lawns, avenues, garden borders, and larger landscape areas.

Striking Burgundy Foliage: The standout feature of ‘Ruby Lace’ is its finely divided foliage, which emerges in rich burgundy and deep reddish-purple tones. The delicate, fern-like leaves create a dramatic appearance and provide a strong colour contrast against surrounding green foliage.

Changing Seasonal Colours: As the growing season progresses, the foliage can develop into attractive bronze, purple, and deeper green tones, giving the tree an ever-changing appearance. This colour variation adds depth and visual interest throughout spring and summer.

Fine Textured Canopy: The small, finely divided leaves create a light and airy canopy that allows filtered sunlight to pass through. This gives the tree a soft, elegant appearance while providing useful dappled shade beneath its branches.

Attractive Autumn Display: In autumn, the foliage changes again before falling, often developing warm golden-yellow tones. The seasonal colour provides a final burst of interest before the tree becomes dormant for winter.

Elegant Winter Framework: Once the leaves have dropped, the branching structure becomes more prominent and provides a strong architectural element in the landscape. The open framework gives the tree an attractive silhouette throughout the cooler months.

Excellent Feature & Shade Tree: A superb selection for spacious lawns, driveways, avenues, parks, lifestyle properties, and larger gardens. Its distinctive foliage colour and graceful canopy make it particularly effective as a standalone specimen where year-round structure and seasonal colour are desired.

Sun-Loving & Adaptable: Performs best in full sun where it can develop its strongest foliage colour and balanced form. It adapts to a range of well-drained soils and benefits from regular watering while establishing, particularly during dry periods.

Distinctive & Colourful Landscape Tree: Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Ruby Lace’ combines finely textured foliage, rich burgundy colouring, an elegant open canopy, autumn tones, and attractive winter structure. Its unusual foliage makes it an excellent choice for adding contrast, character, and seasonal interest to larger landscape settings.
