Sophora japonica ‘Pendula’ — Japanese Pagoda Tree

Elegant Weeping Form: Japanese Pagoda Tree ‘Pendula’ develops gracefully cascading branches that create a distinctive, flowing silhouette. Its sculptural shape makes it an impressive feature tree for lawns, courtyards, and larger garden settings.

Fresh Green Foliage: The tree carries attractive pinnate leaves made up of numerous small leaflets, forming a soft, refined canopy through spring and summer. The foliage provides a pleasant contrast to its strongly arching branches.

Beautiful Summer Flowers: During summer, clusters of creamy-white, pea-like flowers appear throughout the canopy, creating an attractive display when many other flowering trees have finished blooming.

Excellent Feature Tree: The unusual weeping habit and graceful structure make ‘Pendula’ well suited to lawns, avenues, parks, large gardens, and specimen planting. It works particularly well when given room for its branches to develop naturally.

Sun-Loving & Adaptable: This Japanese pagoda tree performs best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Regular watering while establishing will encourage healthy growth, while its established nature makes it a useful long-term landscape tree.

Architectural & Ornamental: Combining cascading branches, fine foliage, summer flowers, and strong structural character, ‘Pendula’ provides interest across the seasons and creates an elegant focal point in the landscape.
